As School travel has finally recovered from Covid restrictions we look at the school travel trends 2023-2024.
School travel is back in a big way and many schools are looking to balance their offerings of new and exciting destinations with being able to offer quality learning and keep things affordable with a cost of living crisis.
The School travel trends 2023 -2024 that we’re seeing are including both the desire for more management (full time guiding and assistance to manage the booking form start, through travel, to finish) as well as assistance with all the necessary paperwork. We’re seeing a big increase in schools looking for the highest level of documentation (pre-prepared risk assessment and emergency plans as well as codes of conduct and other such paperwork). This has led some schools who may have still been arranging their own trips pre-pandemic to be looking at booking though travel specialist agents who through STF and EPA membership will have all the documentation not only pre-prepared but also checked to professional and regulated standards.
Different schools have different requirements but there are still many students and parents that have not travelled post pandemic so we’re definitely seeing an increased demand of FAQs and a small increase in requests for pastoral guidelines. Teacher/guide ratio requests are up as well, reflecting a new, more conservative approach. However, overall the requests are more adventurous with more requests for expedition style trips and adventurous activities.
Demand is high pushing the peak February and October half term dates into super-peak territory – making availability tight even into 2025 now – certainly a warning to book early.
