Push boundries and experience something beyond the ordinary
Svalbard is not your usual school trip. As the world’s most northerly inhabited area it comes with its own incredible set of challenges and rewards. From 2 1/2 months in winter where the sun doesn’t rise above the horizon making it one of the only places you can see the Northern lights any time of the day and night, to almost 5 months in summer when the sun doesn’t set. The only place in Europe with wild polar bear and more than 60% of its land is protected. With national parks, bird sanctuaries and nature reserves. A frozen desert with almost no precipitation it has a vast collection of “most northernly” titles to its name.
Trips to Svalbard, almost more than any of our other destinations very much depends on the age group and time of year. What is a great, fun and educational trip for a group of year 7s is definitely not the same trip that would be suitable for a summer trip for year 11! So whether it’s a fun visit to see the Polar nights and Northern Lights, learn about the history and mining and trapping history of the archipelago and go dog sledding or a trip under the midnight sun pulling your own pulks and assisting with polar bear watch in the evenings there are a range of options available. As Arctic Education have EPA accreditation you can ensure the highest safety standards.
Just let us know your requirements. We offer a tailored service and the below are just examples to whet your appetite!
