School trips 2024 are now in high gear for booking as schools are getting back to a new normal after Covid-19. Schools are picking up that protection from ABTA and ATOL agents are important from a financial perspective.
If looking for a school trip for 2024 the important things to consider are:
- Where? With demand and airlines looking at recouping massive covid losses which resorts are in budget?
- How Much? Are budgets realistic and what flexibility might be needed? Pre-covid prices are often not posible if there’s somewhere you’re used to travelling but another resort might be able to offer the same for less
- What? What are the learning expectations? Do you need guided or will be teachers be leading?
- What Financial protection is available for the school and for the parents/guardians?
- What needs doing in relation to Risk assessments and other recommended due diligence? Does this need doing by organiser or can an operator provide the documentation for you?
- What safety measures are in place? (EPA/STF)? Particularly when looking at more adventurous activities and trips).
- What, if any, FCDO restrictions are in place? What would happen if these change? ABTA and ATOL protection can help with this.

After many schools not offering or being able to offer trips for 2 or 3 years the demand for school trips in 2o24 is massive and ensuring these points ensures minimal stress.
Many school trip leaders that used to arrange trips themselves are now looking to school trip organisers as this can provide more financial security as well as lightening the administrative burden; many local authorities don’t require some additional paperwork when an operator has STF and/or APA accreditation.
