All our trips are designed to meet your curricular requirements and school needs. For our UK customers, we recommend our 3 nights, 4 day tour and for or schools from further afield we recommend our slightly longer tour.

Iceland is a good destination to visit year round however the conditions late November to early March can be challenging. For the best experience, we recommend mid March – October.

6 Night 7 Day Tour - Perfect for schools travelling from outside the UK

Take the stress out of organising your schools trip to Iceland. This trip can be packaged with or without flights depending on your requirements.

Day 1: Arrival

  • Airport transport
  • Meet and greet transfer via the Blue lagoon when it is possible to relax in the geothermal mineral rich water before transferring to the accommodation in Reykjavik
  • Accommodation: Reykjavik City Hostel
  • Light dinner at Hostel

Day 2: Reykjavik

We keep this day nice and easy, particularly as many participants will have had long flights! This is the day to acclimatise and experience the first glimpses of life in Iceland.

  • City tour in downtown Reykjavik
  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Hallgrimskirkja (Tower) is a highlight of the Reykjavik skyline our first stop includes a tour of the church followed by a downtown and old harbour walking tour to learn about the capital.
  • Lunch buffet
  • Whales of Iceland (showcase) exhibition.
  • Dinner in Reykjavik

This is a great day to also visit the Viking Museum Iceland and other activities in Reykjavik.

Day 3: Golden Circle Adventure

  • Breakfast at hostel
  • Bus with driver, guide, gas and insurance: Heillisheidi Power Plant
  • Lunch: Fridheimar – a glimpse into greenhouse horticulture which allows vegetables to be grown year round despite cold conditions with the assistance of geothermal heating.
  • Golden Circle (Geysir, Gulfoss and Thingvellir)
  • Visit to Laugarvatn Fontana – the Icelandic Fountain of Wellness
  • Dinner buffet at Laugarvatn Fontana

Day 4: Renewable

  • Breakfast at hostel
  • In the morning we can offer multiple options – perhaps you would like a presentation by one of our glaciologists from the University of Reykjavik ahead of your glacier hike on day 5 or perhaps you would like to schedule more time looking at renewable energy/climate change and other issues – the morning we will schedule in conjunction with your requirements.

  • Visit to Laugardalslaug thermal pools in Reykjavik which have been in use for swimming since 1772 using geothermal water from the borehole Laugarnes.
  • Pizza Party at hostel

Day 5: Glacier Hike/South Shore

  • Breakfast at hostel
  • Glacier hike on Solheimajokul – use crampons and safety equipment for an exciting hike on a glacier whilst learning about their importance and also the threats from global warming.
  • Lunch
  • Visit to Skogar museum and Waterfall
  • Dinner and Night at Skogar Hostel

As with everything in Iceland, the glacier tour is weather dependant and depending on the time of travel – it may be more appropriate/safe to participate in caving/horse riding or other instead of the Iceland glacier tour however your travel consultant will be best placed to advise depending on your requirements.

    Katla Geopark Educational Program – a natural wonderland of active volcanism, glaciers, waterfalls, black beaches and moss covered lava fields.
  • Visit to Iceland’s black sand beaches, Eyjafjallajökull presentation on the volcanic eruption in 2010 that closed European airspace.
  • Visit to Seljalandsfoss waterfall and Gljufrabui cave.
  • Dinner and night in Hostel

Day 7: Departure Day

  • Breakfast at hostel
  • Geothermal Resource Park/Planet Earth Exhibition
  • Airport transfer
