Sample Itinerary

A packed week of sports...

Day 1

  • Arrival
  • Familiarisation with the resort and location

The week is spread out across the local area of Vuokatti and for some elements of the trip transfers will be by coach. Many of the sites are within walking distance of each other and so the first day really allows for familiarisation. Where students are travelling from around the world, this also allows time to catch up with some rest after long journeys ahead of a packed schedule for the rest of the week.

Day 2: Sports On Ice

  • Personal Development Workshop – 1st Session
  • Ice Skating
  • Ice Hockey
  • Curling

Day two really allows students to get to grip with some of the key sporting experiences on ice whilst having time to reflect on their own development and potential. By giving students samples of the different experiences throughout the course of the week allows students to identify their own strengths and weaknesses before committing to any one sport.

Day 3 – Nordic Traditions

  • Nordic Walking and Berry Picking *Summer
  • Nordic Walking and Hiking *Winter
  • Floor Ball

For students who are looking to commit to perusing a Nordic sport, learning traditions and history surrounding Nordic activities is important to develop students deeper understanding of the sports.

Day 4 – Winter Sport on Snow

  • Personal Development Workshop – 2nd Session
  • CX-Skiing
  • Biathlon
  • Ski Jumping – For those with previous skiing experience, not possible for beginners. Not possible in Autumn

This is a really full on day and is more suited to students who have previous experience of ski-based activities. Particularly in regard to the ski-jump,  this is a fairly risky and challenging activity so not suitable for beginners. Fitness wise, the Cross Country skiing is fairly strenuous and as with all of this package, a good level of fitness should be held by all participants – including teachers!

Day 5 – Day of Adventure & Personal Challenge

Full day of adventure at the Adventure Park / National Park.

The adventure day really does do what it says on the tin – it is challenging and fun and encourages students to really push themselves to overcome difficult obstacles. Where students want to overcome fears, particularly like fears of heights and of putting their trust into the equipment this day is extremely beneficial.

Day 6: Day of fun

  • Ski/Snowboard Day Pass (Summer and Winter) or 6-7 Hour Hike
  • Sauna and Lake Swimming (or Ice Plunge)

With any trip it’s important to have fun and today really gives students time to do that. Depending on the season depends on the activity – one thing is for sure, you’ll really get to grips with nature in our lake swimming or ice plunge!
